Finalist

During the stressful last days of this week when my whole world was a mess and emotional breakdowns were happening every 10 seconds, I was temporarily relieved of the stresses in my life when I received some very exciting news. My picture is a finalist in a photo contest!!

At the end of June I submitted a photo for the July photo contest that a local photographer does. The theme was motion, so at the last minute I randomly selected this photo that I took in D.C.

Well it turns out my randomly selected photo is one of 6 (?) finalists...woohoo! The final pictures are then voted on during First Friday in Raleigh. So, dearest blog friends, if you are in the area on August 6th and feel like having a glass of wine (or beer) in downtown Raleigh while checking out some awesome pictures then be sure to go here: 620 W. Lane St and vote on my picture :) I would LOVE the support, this is so so exciting for me! Even if I don't win it is still an amazing feeling to be a finalist in a contest and have your photo displayed for all to see during First Friday....eeeek!

And now...I'm off to the lake until Friday for some much needed rest and relaxation!

Tornado.

Tornado is pretty much the only word I can think of to describe my life right now, if you don't include the bad part about tornadoes. My life is just a mess! I'm moving in to my new town home today, but I waited until the last minute to pack up my life so everything is crazy here at my apartment...and unfortunately I don't remember which box my camera is in so I can't even take a picture of my messy, boxy, room. :( But soon I will be in a cute new town home complete with a fireplace, a new extremely comfy mattress, and... NO WOOD ROACHES!!! Hopefully...

This has got to be one of the craziest times to move though. I could only take one day off of work so I have all today to get everything moved in. Then, while I'm unpacking I'm also going to have to be packing b/c I leave for the lake on Saturday with my family. And on top of all that...I'm not even sure where I'll be staying tonight, tomorrow, and friday night. My roommate isn't staying at the new town home so I don't know how fond I am of staying in a new place by myself. So my life is basically a mess right now. I don't know how I'm going to manage all of this on top of work, a vet visit, and a social life, geez!

In other (still semi-stressful) news... I will hopefully (if i can find someone to go with me) be joining millions of people on Sunday, August 8th during tax free weekend at the apple store to pick up some essentials...

Essential #1:

A Macbook Pro :)

Yep, that's right. I'm going from a PC to a Mac. Don't get me wrong... I love my PC. But it's time for a change. It's time for a fast computer. No more taking hours and hours to edit one picture in Photoshop! No more massive battery pack! I finally get simplicity! Although it will probably take me a while to figure out how to use it, so it may not seem very simple. But, I am so so excited!

Essential #2:

An iPod touch!

Okay so this isn't really an essential, I'm really just getting it because it's free. Now through Sept. 8th (?) if you buy a mac you get a free iPod touch! If you're a student...I think that's the only catch. So...who wants to go with me?! :)

Well, I've successfully killed about 30 minutes. Now what? I ran out of boxes, and I'm not sure what else to pack up if I'll still be living here. I can't believe I'm about to say this...but I need to make lists to hopefully organize my life. HNScales, you've rubbed off on me.

Pray for a successful, rain free, move in day! I'll work on getting pictures up soon, right after Kristen & Donnie pictures and Julie pictures. Ha, I'm so behind...

Fanny.

My birthday was probably the best birthday I've ever had. I have an amazing group of friends and I am so thankful for each and every one of them for coming out to my party and celebrating with me! It was by far the most fun I've had in a while! Solas wasn't too shabby either, I guess you could say I'm thankful for my boyfriend too ;) We had an amazing time, the food was delicious...and you can't go wrong with free champagne on the roof! I'm so glad he agreed to go with me!

So of course everyone loves getting presents on their birthdays, and I got my fair share of wonderful gifts (thanks guys!), however there was one gift that just topped them all...

Meet Fanny...my precious little 5 month old guinea pig, isn't she adorable?! Her name is Fanny because she looks like she has a fanny pack on her back...although you can't see it in this picture. She is my favorite and I love her to death. She is still a little shy and unsure of where she is...but when she does get comfortable she talks to you and her squeaks are adorable. If you want a cute, semi cuddly, low maintenance pet...go for a guinea pig and you won't regret it!

So there's my 2 cents about that. Awesome blog post I know, I mean everyone wants to read about cute guinea pigs.

Still working on editing pictures of Kristen and Donny... unfortunately it's taking forever because I was the idiot that took the pictures while the camera was set to stamp the date/time on the picture. So I'm having to clone stamp that out and it takes FOREVER! I'm also in the process of packing up my life so that on Wednesday my roomie and I can move into our new town home! So that, on top of work, leaves little to no time to edit pictures. Slowly but surely...

Yesterday I also took pictures of one of my friends, Julie, that I haven't seen in forever! It was so much fun...she's so cute! Cross your fingers and maybe those will be up before the end of August...

As for now, it's bed time. Early morning tomorrow...yipee, back to work.

21?!

In TWO days I'm going to be turning the big two one. Holy cow. How in the world did it go by so fast?! I think it still hasn't hit me yet that I'm really going to be an adult. I can go out now and drink. This is so exciting! Although this week has been a little rough for various reasons, I am feeling much better now and have complete confidence that this weekend will be the best!

Here's what's going down:

Friday there will be a massive fiesta, in my honor :) A big brunch with the girls on Saturday, and then a lovely dinner (and maybe some dancing) at Solas with Casey that night! I've been looking forward to this weekend for way too long, I really can't believe it's almost here!

So aside from being excited about a birthday, I haven't really been up to much other than working. And not blogging. So sorry. I still haven't even finished editing all of the pictures of Kristen and Donny from July 3rd! I'm so awful! I'll get on that soon.... maybe tonight... ?

But, for now, here's a preview of what's to come :)

Oh and don't worry, I haven't forgotten about D.C., so I guess I'll have those up soon too... I'm such a slacker!
