Italy: Florence Adventures

You may remember from many, many, many posts ago that I decided to start a little "Italy Series" on this blog, recapping my wonderful Study Abroad experience in Italy. Well, 6 months later (holy cow time flies!) I'm back to share with you more Italy adventures :)

Be sure to catch up with Part 1 and Part 2 if you missed them!

So just a little bit of background, we lived in Florence and went to classes in Florence, but on the weekends we took little excursions to different parts of Italy. We went to Pisa (see part 2), Pompeii, Sorrento, Mt. Vesuvius, Capri, Cinque Terre, Venice, and Rome. All of it was amazing! But before we get into all of the fun weekend trips, I'm here to tell you about all of the wonderful times we had in Florence...when we weren't studying ;)

We spent lots of time in the market...

Everyday we had to walk through this market on the way to class. I looooved the atmosphere! Everyone was buying and selling and bartering and it was just so fun. Oh, and the guys had some seriously amazing pick up lines. For example...

"ladies, I think you dropped something (pause for us to look and see what we dropped) .... my heart!"

Oh, right...cute.

We cooked some deeelicous meals!

We ate our fair share of gelato. Any flavor, any cone, any gelato place, any shape and size, we had it all. I could not get enough of that melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

We even splurged and bought gelato that was 10 euros. Of course, this was on accident but hey...I'll take it either way!

We acted like the biggest tourists ever. We clearly love to take pictures, anywhere and of anything.

This is Florence, in case you didn't get that.

We may have even created our own "Italy's Next Top Model" ...because clearly we were all meant to be models, I mean just look at us...

We hit up some fancy schmanzy shops and did a little shopping...

Okay, so maybe we didn't actually buy anything, in reality we played on the carousal cause that's much more our style...

We did lots and lots of exploring!

SO MANY PIGEONS. Not nearly as bad as Venice, but still...there were lots.

Fun fact: This is currently blown up and framed and hanging above the fireplace at my moms house :)

The view from our classroom window

We met new friends...

We hiked up the exhausting 463 steps to the top of the Duomo, and it was worth every second!

And lastly, but certainly not least, we did PLENTY of celebrating, eating, and drinking...complete with tons and tons of wine, of course!

Seriously, I love my food.

Florence was such an amazing experience! I had a blast living and exploring and eating(!) in such a cultural city. I'm glad that I had the chance to call Florence home for a month :) One of the best months I've had, by far...

So tell me, where has been your favorite place to call home?

Up next in the Italy Series: Pompeii and Sorrento! Hopefully before another 6 months go by... ;)

Happy Friday!
