Something To Make You Laugh.

I just needed to take a little break from writing my two papers to tell you all two of the funniest things I've heard Hillary say, ever. And both of these happened within 24 hours of each other. Get ready.

#1: Last night, our good friend Ashley came over with a 6 pack of beer because she is DONE with college! She needed a little bit of a celebration, and Hillary and I were there for her (even though I had a final today at 8am and should have been studying, but it's all good...). So as we're sitting on the couch, drinking a 'seasonal' Blue Moon (which by the way is really good) Hillary is just playing with her bottle, scraping off the label, when all of a sudden.. "Woah! Is this for real?" When Hillary was playing around with her bottle she came across the expiration date: MAY3011. And of course, what does she think? This doesn't expire until May 3011?!?!?! A beer that stays good after a thousand years?? Yeah, Blue Moon is that good. Soon after she thought it she realized that it was really May 30, 2011. But still, it was funny.

#2: Today, as I'm sitting in the library attempting to write a Spanish paper (which I should be doing right now...but psht it's just so boring!), I was also facebook chatting Hillary. So we're talking about how I was sitting on the 8th floor in the bookstacks at this desk along the wall beside a bunch of other desks. There were two people a few desks down from me on either side of me and I commented to her about how I felt funny laughing because I felt like they were watching me and it was just weird. Her response? "they are watching you, they're all watching you, BIG BEN" Big Ben huh? Well, that's funny cause I thought that was a clock? Or an amazing quarterback?? Oh right, what Hillary meant was Big BROTHER. Haha yeah, she's obviously brain dead from exams. But at least she's done. Unlike me.

So back to work...

"pictures to blow up"

While procrastinating (something that I have become so very good at) today, I was going through various pictures on my computer. One of the folders that I have on my computer is titled "pictures to blow up" aka all of the pictures that I found print worthy back at the beginning of the school year. Although some from this folder should definitely not be printed anymore, I did find quite a few that made me smile that are worthy of sharing!

For starters, meet the love of my life...

I know I look like complete crap, but isn't he just so sexy? Why oh why did you have to leave NC State before I was a student?!

And on to something else I love...

...dancing with my adorable little cousin at a family wedding!

This will be my future home one day. Or if not Cinque Terre exactly, then something very similar to it.

Once upon a time, aka last summer, my two roomies and I went to a Backstreet Boys concert. Yes, that's right, I said Backstreet Boys. So I think it's pretty self explanatory as to why this was in the folder. It was only the best night ever.

Last Thanksgiving up in Maryland, the start to our little tradition of running a 5k on Thanksgiving morning!

The best friends a girl could ask for and some NC State football! (this picture actually is printed out and hanging up in my room right now...at least I got around to printing one of these!)

My little baby brother graduated high school! Yeah, I'm still finding it hard to believe. I also love this picture because I love the dress I have on and this is one of the few times I've actually worn it!

This is Florence, my second home for a month. It seemed like such a long time then but looking back it definitely wasn't long enough! I would give anything to go back there and do it all again...minus the losing my wallet part.

And these handsome men are our friends from Italy! But, they aren't Italian. They're from Argentina! I was able to practice my Spanish, which was pretty interesting. (I'm minoring in Spanish)

There's something about this picture that I just love. I took it accidentally on a bus tour in Rome with Jasmine (right before we got left on the bus as it headed back to the garage) and I just love how it happened to turn out.

So yes, this picture probably seems ridiculous, which is why I love it. This would be our version of Italy. You've got Danella as the big tower by the Duomo, Lauren is the Duomo, I'm the baptistery, Jessie is the David, Laura and Jasmine are the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and Emilie is a tourist. Oh, and yeah, there's also that sketchy guy to our right. Why wouldn't I want to print this?

And lastly, one of my favorite places on earth...

Venice, Italy. I love that no one owned a car and that everyone drove boats and that the buildings were breath takingly gorgeous. And yeah, even the pigeons everywhere were kind of fun sometimes...

Go ahead, call it gross. But you would have done it too given the chance. And don't worry, this isn't a picture in my blow up folder...

And that would be a few of the pictures that make me smile! I know most of them are from Italy, it was a huge part of my life so far and I absolutely loved it. I also took a nice trip down memory lane today with my mom and went through a majority of my pictures from Italy, so I guess I've got Italy on the brain! Perfect for finals time, right? Right...

It's Finals...

This is how my roommate and I get around this time of year...

Okay, that's half a lie. We're always like this. In fact, this video wasn't even taken during finals week.
What's wrong with us???

Oh, but you know that rap was original and awesome. Yeah, we made it up. No big deal.

A 5k and a Broken Nose.

Happy (late) Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a wonderful time stuffing their faces with turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and endless amounts of pie, yummmm. What did my family do Thanksgiving morning? Oh, just ran a 5k. No big deal.

Last year we all ran a 5k too while we were up in Maryland visiting our family. This year my time was much better and I ran almost the whole way! Which is saying a lot since I have been so out of shape and slack about running this year. But, I did it! And I actually felt okay about going home and stuffing my face :)

Now who's going to run the Krispy Kreme Challenge with me?!

So, in other totally random and off topic news, for those of you who don't know me too well, I am a die hard Steelers fan. Really, it's kind of intense. Sunday night we played one of the biggest games of the season vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Let me just go ahead and say this, the Ravens are horrible. Not that they're a bad team, in fact going into the game we both had the same record, but they are just a flat out dirty team. For example...

No, his nose isn't supposed to bend like that. We can thank the Ravens for this lovely broken nose. And was there a flag called? Nope. Did Big Ben still play the whole game with this nose (and a broken foot from earlier)? Yes, he did. Oh and they also gave another one of our good players a concussion. Again, no flag. But it's okay, because we still won that game. So take that Ravens, we can beat you with a broken nose, a broken foot, and a concussion!

And that is basically all that I've found exciting enough to blog about :) Now that I have successfully procrastinated some more, it's time to get down to business...

Good luck with all of your exams!

Fall

I seriously love fall.

It is so incredibly gorgeous, each day I'm reminded of God's beauty. So I just thought I'd share it with you too!

Enjoy it while it lasts,  soon it will be cold and ugly. I dislike winter a lot.

Hillawy Scawels!

So, I'm sitting here at my computer at 10:15 at night (and no I did not finish this blog in one sitting, so if you're wondering why later there is a reference to the next morning then that's why) thinking to myself, I want to blog. I say out loud "Hillary, I want to blog, what should I blog about?" her response... "Me." Yes she was joking, but she asked for it, so here goes. Get ready for the best. blog. ever.

Meet Hilldy.  This is my roommate and also one of my best friends! You may recognize her from many blog posts ago, although now her hair is darker than it was before. So, let me just tell you some things about Hillary...

#1: Her and I are nothing alike.
Okay minus the fact that we both share the same sense of humor and just tend to 'get' each other, we probably have nothing else in common. She spends her time watching Single Father, I spend mine watching teenage soap operas. She likes classic movies, I don't. She hates country, I love it. I enjoy sports, she's exhausted just thinking about them. She enjoys watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and knows basically ALL the answers and well...I just don't. And the list goes on and on...

#2: She is also known as "Veronica."
Sometimes Hillary gets in these weird moods where her voice changes to a snobby person named Veronica. I highly recommend that you experience this at least once in your life time. That's all that I can say about it though.

#3: She is an awesome blogger.
For real, check it out. One minute she's talking about inappropriate spam, the next febuhairy, and the next childhood memories. So, if you like a funny blog with some variety... then read it.

#4: She makes the best videos ever.
Yeah so the one that I really wanted on here wasn't working, but let's be real...this is equally as funny. Oh and side note: that ending voice is the voice of Veronica.

#5: She's a white trash diva.
I know it may look like it, but I promise she's not pregnant.

#6: She loves Harry Potter just like everybody else
So get this, not only is she going to the midnight showing tomorrow night, but she also has her profile picture on her facebook page set to a picture of someone from Harry Potter.
Funny, yet sad, story about me: while I was typing out this part of the blog, instead of putting Harry Potter at first I put Hairy Potter. And no I did not realize I had made that mistake until about the 10th time I looked at it. But anyway, I thought that was too funny not to share...

#7: She uses big words.
Okay so maybe they aren't "big" words, but she has a good vocabulary. Maybe that's a better way of putting it. For instance, in her about me section on facebook this is what it says: "Some would say I'm quiet, but I like to think I'm shrouded in mystery." I mean really, who says shrouded?! Or maybe lots of people do and it's just me...

#8: She has her ditzy moments.
This is probably one of my favorite funny Hillary moments. Well, minus the story about something that she said at a few football games ago about half-time, but we won't get into that. Once upon a time, during Sophomore(?) year, Hillary and I were roaming around campus. I had a paper due in my history class on the Wilmington Race Riots of 1898 and I was talking to Hillary about it. Would you like to know what she asked me about this topic? "What were they racing, carriages?" I kid you not.

#9: She loves to skip class.
For instance, this morning I woke up at 8:30 to get ready for my class and I open my door to go walk downstairs for some breakfast and what do I see across the hall from me?
Yes, this is Hillary's door closed with the lights out. Someone had class this morning at 8:30. Someone is still sleeping. Someone skipped. You should ask her about that one time she went to class to find a surprise test. That's what you get for skipping, Hills. (Okay, so yeah, I can't talk...I skip financial all the time and it's not even a morning class, opps?)

#10: She is an amazing friend!
Seriously, she is. She's one of the best friends I've made since being at college and I'm so glad I met her! She gives amazing advice and pep talks when you're feeling down, and she's just as goofy as me. If you don't have Hilldy in your life, you're missing out.

And there you have it. That's Hillary Scales in a nut shell, she da bomb. And because I am sure that you all will enjoy this so much, get ready for a blog post sometime in the near future about my other best friend, A.Farin!

That's all for now...

Out with the Old, In with the New

See these gross looking dead flowers?

These have been in my room for 9 months. Yes, 9. They are far past dead.

Well, I finally decided to take care of this problem and I bought myself some new, alive flowers.

They are gorgeous and fresh and new! And they smell good. Maybe it's my way of finally saying see ya to the past or maybe it's just me finally attempting to make my room clean, but regardless it still feels good :)

Now it's off to a day full of financial homework, picture taking, steelers watching, and maybe some room cleaning/organizing in between.

Adios!

November Goals.

I cannot believe that it is already November! October flew by so fast, which sadly left me accomplishing hardly any goals, so there won't be too many new ones for this month. Here goes...

-Finish editing the last 10 or so pictures of Kristen and Donny*
-Relearn how to play the piano, now that I have one!*
-Spend more time with my grandparents.* This ties in with the learning to play the piano thing...I'm hoping my grandmom will have some time to teach me!
-Work on and finish Alicia's birthday (slash now graduation) present!!*
-Run, Run, Run!* I'm running a 5k on Thanksgiving and I am very out of shape.
-Read scripture or journal EVERY DAY!*
-Sign up for some races! (anyone want to train/run with me?)*
-Rehang/replace the mirrors that have fallen off my walls*
-Finish hanging up things in my room* The majority of my room is fully decorated, but there's still some obnoxious things that I've gotta figure out how to hang...
-Play some tennis, it's been too long.*
-Buy myself some fresh flowers to replace the ones that are about 9 months old, and far past dead.
-Work on and finish my photography website.
-Update my flickr.
-And lastly, blog more!!

* from last month

That's about it. Let's see if maybe I can accomplish these?

Happy Monday...and Go Steelers!

A look back at October.

Gosh, I am such a failure when it comes to blogging. I realize that the last time I blogged was a month ago, and it was just a blog with a list of my goals. How interesting am I?! But to make this blog a bit more exciting, here's what I've been up to this past month that has caused me to neglect my little blog...

Week 1:
One of my favorite friends from Italy, Ms. Laura, came to visit from good ole Tennessee for the NC State/VT football game (which we sadly lost...)

Week 2:
My step sister, Lisa, finally turned 21! She is down at UNC-W so of course I had to drive down there for the night for a little celebration :)

Later that week one of my friends in TKE invited me to a Grab-a-Date function(?). I don't even know if I worded that right but there was dinner, drinks, and dancing...so it was fun!

Week 3:
Fair!! I went with 3 of my best friends on Sunday, and then the roomie and I decided to go back on Thursday to get some cool pictures :)

Between the two of us, Hillary and I bought $21 worth of candy. Opps?!

Week 4:
INSANITY!

I had a hard take-home test due Tuesday, had Operations homework due Tuesday, went to the Muse concert Tuesday night (happy birthday hilldy!), had a Finance test Wednesday (yeah, that was bad), had a Operations/Supply Chain test Thursday, then went off Thursday night to the NC State vs. FSU football game to forget all about my past week :) And let me just say, that game was amazing! But of course, this was the one game I didn't bring my camera too. Wah.

And then... came halloween.

I'm pretty sure this is from 1990, when I was two. Those were the good ole days, when dad ate my candy and mom made me dress up like a big, poofy, bunny. Gotta love family...

And that was my amazing, crazy, super fun month of October! As far as accomplishing goals goes...well, yeah. I didn't achieve as much as I should have. But let's just save that for my next blog post :)

Happy November!

October Goals.

It's October 6th and I haven't made my goals for this month yet, oh gosh! Here goes...

-Finish editing the last 10 or so pictures of Kristen and Donny*
-Relearn how to play the piano, now that I have one!
-Work on and finish Alicia's birthday present*
-Join a community group at my church* (for some reason this is intimidating to me...)
-TAKE MORE PICTURES! I've really been slack about finding time for this..*
-Run, Run, Run! At least 3 times a week, for now.* (I have kind of failed at the 3 times a week thing, but I have good excuses: it rained, and now I'm sick. Can't run under those conditions!)
-Read scripture or journal EVERY DAY!*
-Sign up for some races! (anyone want to train/run with me?)
-GO TO CLASS! This may sound like a no-brainer... but it's been kind of hard for me this semester, especially when it comes to financial management...
-Rehang/replace the mirrors that have fallen off my walls.
-Clean! My room is a mess.
-Play some tennis, it's been too long.
-Spend more time with my grandparents.

* from last month

I guess that's about all for now, my brain is kind of fried and all of the non-sleep/sick crap is catching up with me. I did learn some interesting things this week from the brickyard preacher, but that might have to be saved for another post...

Until next time,

I have the BEST brother ever!

Last Friday, myself and 4 friends decided to head on home to my wonderful house in Fuquay for a delicious home cooked meal with my mom! Little did we know that my oh-so-amazing "little" brother was going to come home from ECU with his roommate for a surprise visit. I was so shocked yet so happy to see him walk through that door! But it doesn't stop there.

For those of you that read this regularly (if any of you do?) you might remember this post...

On Thursday my brother told me that he had a gift to give me the next time he comes home. I figured it was something from ECU because I've thrown so much State stuff at him that it's about time he returns the favor, but nope, I was wrong.

He pulled this baby out of his pocket:

Okay so when he first handed this to me, it was wrapped all up in bubble wrap/other stuff so I couldn't see the thing on the lid, all I could see was the teal colored box. I'm not going to lie, my first thought was, something from Tiffany's?!?! Yeah because my brother, the part time chick-fil-a worker, is rollin' in the dough. But actually...it turned out to be something better than anything from Tiffany's :)

I love my brother!! And the fact that he actually bought this for me, for no reason, makes me so so happy. I normally don't happy cry but I came very close on Friday when he gave me this. He is the best little brother ever and he is maturing into such an awesome person! Brother, if you're reading this... I LOVE YOU!

That's all for now. Go hug your brothers.

Perfecto!

Today was one of those days when the weather was just absolutely perfect.

I love how it feels and looks outside after it has just rained. It was sunny, cool, and best of all...not humid! There was even a nice little breeze, and I love breezes. Today was my ideal day. But what am I doing instead of enjoying this?

I went to classes. I went to work. And now I have to catch up on an assignment due tomorrow that I haven't had time to start yet. So much for running, or tennis, or pictures, or etc etc etc...

Life's just not fair.

But at least I get to see Josh Duhamel's sexy self on the big screen in about an hour and a half. :) That I can't complain about...

Ciao!

Julie!

It's been forever since I've blogged. And forever since I've actually included pictures in a blog. Soooorry! I have finally finished the pictures of Julie and I am very close to being done with Kristen and Donny's, finally! Never again will I make the mistake of choosing to have the date and time on every single picture, not fun. That's what I get for playing with my camera before a photo shoot. But as Hilldy (http://meetmeinthecrowd.wordpress.com/) has been saying these past few days, you live and you learn!

And now...pictures of Julie:

First we went over to Meredith to wander around a bit and take some pictures.

I wanted to try and find the amphitheater but we had no luck, and after wandering around for a little in the heat we decided to move on to our next spot...the boylan bridge!

I absolutely love her dress and shoes!

Next stop: the bell tower!

As scared as we were to get hit by a train, we still decided to venture to the train tracks for a few pictures :)

I had so much fun taking pictures of Ms. Julie! And soon... pictures of Kristen and Donny :)

So last week was crazy for me, filled with tests and homework and no sleep. Luckily all that I have on my agenda for this week is one test tomorrow, although it's probably going to be awful and I have no idea what I should study. But after that I have nothing, and because of this I am going to set some weekly goals for myself.

Goal number 1:
Finish editing Kristen and Donny's pictures!

Goal number 2:
Work on my photography website! I am almost done and I am determined to have it up and running by the end of this week. If only I can figure out how to get my pictures organized on there how I want them...

Goal number 3:
GET A TICKET TO THE GAME SATURDAY! I have never not gotten a ticket to a football game, until now. I am a SENIOR. And sadly I'm not the only person to not get a ticket...so ticket department, what's going on? Give me a ticket.

Goal number 4:
RUN! Hopefully 3 times this week... or at least twice. I gotta start making this regular!

Goal number 5:
Pull out my (now dusty) camera and finally take some pictures! It's been way too long, I don't know what's wrong with me. School over photography?! Psht.

I think that's enough goals for this week, now to achieve them...

And now, I just have to leave you with these adorable puppies that I wish were mine. If only Hillary were a puppy lover like me...

image 1957867749-0

They are free on craigslist. I seriously don't understand why I'm not getting one. Someone remind me of why I shouldn't get a dog?!
