Good Friday

When I was younger I always wondered why today was called "GOOD" Friday. What was good about it? Jesus DIED today. We mocked and we crucified the son of God, how could that be good?

But it's so much more than that. No, it wasn't good that we were (and still are) so sinful and undeserving, but it is SO good that Jesus loves us all so much that he would die for us. All along his journey to Jerusalem Jesus knew what was going to happen to him once there, and yet he still came. He allowed insults to be hurled at him, he allowed the world to mock him, he allowed the crowd to crucify him. And he didn't run away. He didn't fight back. He didn't turn away in fear...because he loves us. Our sin was (is) so strong and his love so deep, that he would suffer through crucifixion on a cross for us, so that we may live in freedom. And I think that is so good! And it doesn't stop there, because he rose again 3 days later... :)

Easter weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year! I love the celebration, the time with family, the cooking, the Easter egg hunts, the pastel colors, the spring weather, the love, and the freedom that has been given to us!
